SEBASTIAN BLUME
PROJECT INITIATOR & PHOTOGRAPHER
Sebastian Blume is the founder and conceptual artist behind the project Light and Relic.
His work unites photography, provenance, and material culture, exploring how objects can carry memory, transformation, and truth.
Through Light and Relic, Blume created a contemporary framework in which physical artifacts such as the Arknight Shard become visual records of human experience and digital authenticity.
In 2011, I served as a soldier in Afghanistan, where I narrowly survived.
Afterwards, I worked as an international photographer in New York until I had to give up my career due to post-traumatic stress disorder.
The trading card game Flesh and Blood became a true passion for me, helping me to better cope with the challenges of my condition.
There was a time when my PTSD had brought me close to losing almost everything even a roof over my head. Money was gone, and survival seemed more urgent than any card or collection. In that moment, I almost let go of the Arknight Shard. But I didn’t. Somehow, it stayed with me. And today, it reminds me that even in the darkest moments, some things are worth holding onto.
The artistic and documentary processing of these themes is bundled in the Project light and relic.

ANDREAS RIMKUS
BLACKSMITH AND FORGE HOST
Andreas Rimkus is the featured blacksmith artist and host within the project Light and Relic by Conceptual Artist Sebastian Blume.
Instead of forging new objects for this series, Rimkus provided his historic forge a space deeply imbued with his own artistic history as the atmospheric stage for Blume’s work. His presence and his workspace serve as the authentic context, grounding the conceptual project in the physical reality of fire and iron.
As a testament to this unique synergy, Rimkus has co-signed the Fine Art Print 1/3.
About the Artist: Based in Springe, Germany, Rimkus has been working as a freelance metal designer and sculptor since 1993. His extensive body of work ranges from delicate light objects and small-scale sculptures to large architectural metal constructions.
